BMC Voices: Angelina
When Angelina needed care her local hospital couldn’t provide, she turned to BMC for expert care and support. “I knew if I got Angelina to BMC they would be able to help,” said Angelina’s mom, reflecting on her daughter’s recent care here. “They know what they are doing — we feel very blessed. I wanted to thank her whole team for the excellent care they’ve given her.”
Beyond the exceptional clinical care Angelina received, she was also supported by our patient advocates, including Lala Guzman.
“Lala has gone out of her way to help Angelina any way she can,” says Sheryl. “She comes to visit her, has painted with her, and even scheduled visits with a service dog — she’s been very supportive.”

September is National Recovery Month
National Recovery Month is a time to not only remember the lives lost to substance use disorders (SUDs), but to encourage and support people in need of services to seek help, affirm that treatment works, and celebrate those in recovery.
At BMC, we understand the urgency needed to continue to find solutions and expand access to treatment for people with SUD. We are also committed to normalizing treatment and de-stigmatizing these disorders.
The Grayken Center for Addiction offers more than a dozen treatment and support programs for patients of all backgrounds.

September is Sickle Cell Awareness Month
Sickle cell disease (SCD), a blood disorder that causes painful attacks and organ damage, is incredibly common. Unfortunately, it's also expensive to treat. Inspired by their Aunt Winnie, who passed away due to complications from SCD, NFL players Devin and Jason McCourty have made it their life's mission to help find an affordable and accessible cure for SCD.
They've dedicated their efforts to BMC's Center of Excellence in Sickle Cell Disease, the largest center of its kind in New England.
The Center’s multidisciplinary team is committed to providing patients with highly personalized care that allows them to live as normal a life as possible.

BMC in the News
BMC is proud to open the Brockton Behavioral Health Center, a state-of-the-art facility designed to address co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders and help address a critical need for behavioral health care. The expert team at the Center, which will begin welcoming patients in October, will provide a wide variety of care for patients taking their next step towards long-term recovery.
The building itself will be greenhouse gas net-zero from day one, running off renewable, sustainable energy, an additional way of caring for our community.
Thank you to Governor Baker, Brockton officials, neighbors, and our colleagues who helped celebrate the opening of the Center!
