Dear Research Community-
We hope that everyone has had a smooth entry into Fall! It's hard to believe that it is already the middle of October. Research Operations broadly has been working diligently (and often night and day) to ensure delivery of service excellence to our community and to support the incredible research going on each day at BMC. The team continues to make improvements in systems and processes in core areas and to bring in new talent to expand capacity. Some recent highlights include the following:
InfoEd has been updated to a current version which will now make submission of grants more efficient and seamless for all involved
SPA is delighted to announce the hiring of Mitzi Tanaka as a Senior Grants and Contract Administrator. She is an experienced research administrator with a strong InfoEd background;
Research Operations is delighted to announce that Asa Lopatin will join the team at the end of October as a Director of Research Contracts and Industry Agreements. Asa is an attorney who will focus on agreement and contract review in partnership with SPA and the Office of General Counsel (OGC)
Led by Chris Garcia and Pat Bass, the teams are spending considerable time and effort organizing and streamlining processes for efficient review and turnaround of contracts and agreements. The volume continues to be high with >80 agreements completed just in the past 3 months. The team has already substantively decreased waiting times and will continue their work in this area
SPA is conducting a workload analysis by department and will use these data to ensure all departments/sections know the specific person in SPA assigned to their area, hopefully reducing use of the grants admin mailbox. Stay tuned - more to come soon!
We recognize that there is continued work to do, and this will take time. Please know that the teams are working hard each and every day and are committed to these efforts. We appreciate your patience and partnership.
Thank you,
Tina & Megan
