Quote from Andy Vo, Kidney Transplant donor
BMC-Voices

When Andy learned that his girlfriend of 14 years needed a kidney, he immediately knew what to do. “She needed a kidney and I have an extra one,” he says. “I didn’t even really need to think about it before offering to donate mine.”

After many tests and visits with the transplant team, he learned that he was a good match for her. Although he knew a bit about organ donation, Andy says the BMC transplant team explained everything he needed to know about the donation and what to expect afterward. This made him feel even more confident to move forward.

Do you have questions about monkeypox?

You may have seen recent headlines about a monkeypox outbreak throughout the United States and other countries that do not usually see cases of monkeypox. While the number of cases in Massachusetts is still low, we know you may have many questions about this disease.

Visit BMC.org to learn more about monkeypox, how it spreads, who’s most at risk, and how it's diagnosed and treated. If you're eligible for a monkeypox vaccine, you can also schedule your first dose.

BMC Goes Green at the White House

Kate Walsh, CEO, and Bob Biggio, SVP of Facilities and Support Services, were recently invited to The White House to discuss climate change and carbon reduction in the health care industry.

BMC is dedicated to reducing our carbon footprint, because we know that healthier hospitals mean healthier communities. BMC is among 650 hospitals across the country that have joined a Biden Administration initiative and pledged to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50 percent by 2030. You can learn more about the pledge in Healthcare Finance.

BMC in the News

BMC was named the fourth most socially responsible hospital in the United States and the most socially responsible in Massachusetts by the Lown Institute. This honor is a recognition of our mission and work to provide accessible and exceptional care to all our patients and the programs, services, and support to help you stay well.

The Lown Institute hospitals index measures social responsibility for more than 3,600 hospitals nationwide. BMC was one of the only 66 hospitals to receive straight A grades in outcomes, values, and equity.
