Hello, and welcome to Your BMC.
Each month, "Your BMC," our email newsletter, will share information about the care and connection that happen within the Boston Medical Center community every day.
You are an important part of our community, and we are here to help you be your healthiest self. As a part of your health journey, this newsletter features important information about services and programs, tips for healthy living, stories from around BMC, and more.

BMC Voices: Renee
When Renee found out she was pregnant with her first baby, the news was bittersweet, as Renee was addicted to opioids. But at her first ultrasound, a feeling of purpose came over her. “When I saw the screen, I realized I had to find a way to get sober.” A clinician gave Renee the phone number for a new BMC program, Project RESPECT, and she never looked back.

Renee chooses to give back to the BMC community by volunteering with Project RESPECT’s sister program, SOFAR, which provides support for parents in recovery and their children.

Free Event: Screening on the Green
In today’s world, routine things like going to the dentist and annual doctor’s visits are often put on hold. But those annual visits can help make sure you stay healthy and cancer-free. Whether you saw your doctor last year or 10 years ago, BMC wants to help you to take steps to prevent cancer - or catch it early.
Please join us for a free head and neck cancer screening and education from BMC providers.
When: Tuesday, July 19, 1-3 p.m.

Happy Pride Month
Each June, we pause to celebrate PRIDE – the global event highlighting the importance of self-acceptance, inclusivity, respect, visibility, and support for legal protections and equal rights for the LGBTQIA+ community worldwide.

BMC Health System is proud to celebrate our LGBTQIA+ team members and their contributions to the exceptional care we provide to our patients and communities. We're grateful for the invaluable perspectives, experiences, and talents you bring to the BMC family.

BMC in the News
Our Violence Intervention Advocacy Program (VIAP) helps guide victims of community violence through recovery from physical and emotional trauma. The road to healing can be challenging for the victim and their family members no matter how the injury occurred.

As gun violence continues in America, parents are left to navigate the difficult conversations that they need to have with their children. BMC’s Neena McConnico outlines several ways parents
can approach this sensitive subject.
